FLORAL DETECTIVES (GB)
Formed in 2017. Floral Detectives are a band hailing from Darlington in the Northeast of England. Powerful catchy guitar-driven tunes, with high-energy alternative rock and garage rock n roll sounds, are the Floral’s trademark. Signed to Nil by Mouth records and represented by OniX management. They write their songs about the things surrounding them and impacting them In life, social commentaries or the things they find most amusing or intriguing.
Their 2019 debut EP like it loud was a hit, with their new and growing fanbase garnering over 18000 streams on Spotify alone and as popular elsewhere. They began taking the North East of England by storm, finishing 2019 with some wild performances.
2020 began strong with new bassist Tommy D providing a new piece to their creative jigsaw. Live performances were already a hot exciting and sweaty affair but they rose to another level.The pandemic may have brought the world to a halt and immediately cancelled all the band’s tour and festival dates, but the Florals used the enforced break to work on new material. The first of these offerings being the well-received single The Masquerade (That Kinda Guy) released in autumn 2021. Fast forward to 2022, and the band has written a track for the theme music to a popular paranormal program the 1st of June saw the release of their new 7-track mini-album.
The single, The Masquerade (That Kinda Guy), channels the band’s undeniable rock and roll know-how into a fantastically upbeat social commentary about that ignorant friend we all have
Influences such as The Clash and Sex Pistols have clearly had an impact on the Darlington-based rockers, however, embellishing that recipe are Callum Cresser’s vocals which add a delicious Northern grit that listeners are sure to cherish.
Honourable mentions must be made for lead guitarist Bri, basis Tom Dryden and drummer Conor Mcnaughton who provide flawless, high energy riffs and rhythms throughout this toe tapping track. Alt. rockers rejoice, this tune might just be your latest ear worm.
